VIVALDI’S THE FOUR SEASONS – organ concert
Dates & Times
Vivaldi’s The Four Seasons on the Historic Organ of St Paul’s Church Antonio Vivaldi’s most famous work, The Four Seasons, performed by solo violin, cello and the historic organ of St Paul’s Church. Vivaldi devoted each of the four concertos to a season - Spring, Summer, Autumn and Winter - accompanying them with sonnets that vividly evoke the scenes portrayed in the music. Birdsong and a spring thunderstorm, the heat of summer, harvest celebrations, winter winds and cracking ice - Vivaldi transforms them all into musical pictures that remain remarkably vivid almost three centuries later. On 4 and 5 December 2026, the celebrated cycle will be performed beneath the Neo-Gothic vaults of St Paul’s Church in an unusual arrangement that reveals a different side of this familiar music. The expansive acoustics of the church will give the music an added sense of scale, while lighting and visual projections will change with each of the four seasons, complementing the imagery created by Vivaldi. *Please note: The concert will be performed on the historic organ of St Paul’s Church. All musicians will be positioned in the organ gallery.* For audience members seated below, live video of the performance will be shown on screens in the church, allowing you not only to hear the music but also to follow the musicians and see the performance in detail.*
