BROADWAY – Hits from the World’s Greatest Musicals

Dates & Times

Hits from the World’s Greatest Musicals in BROADWAY Mamma Mia!, Chicago, Jesus Christ Superstar, Cats, West Side Story, The Phantom of the Opera... Music from legendary musicals that have captivated audiences on Broadway and in the West End for decades and become part of our shared musical culture. The BROADWAY programme brings together celebrated songs and arias from musicals spanning generations - from classics of the genre to music that has become instantly recognisable far beyond the theatre. The vocal parts will be performed by soloists of the Latvian National Opera, joined by an instrumental line-up rarely associated with Broadway: organ, violin, cello and percussion. This unusual combination reveals familiar music from a new perspective, moving from intimate chamber textures to the full power of the ensemble. Beneath the Neo-Gothic vaults of St Paul’s Church, the expansive acoustics, architecture and lighting give this familiar music an entirely new sense of scale. BROADWAY - a vibrant finale to the year, filled with music from legendary musicals. Musicians are located in the stalls, near the altar Concert duration: approx. 1 hour 20 minutes
